Home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes and the world’s tallest sea mountain. Birthplace of surfing and the hula. Former seat of a royal kingdom. Birth place and childhood home of the current American President. Still most visitors say that Hawaii’s most unique feature is its Aloha Spirit and the warmth of the local people. There are six major islands to visit in Hawaii: Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and Hawaii’s Big island.
If you are planning your first trip to Hawaii we have put together some essential places for you to see.
Napali Coast, Kauai
On the North Shore of Kauai, the incredible Napali Coast overlooks panoramic views of the vast Pacific Ocean. Along this spectacular coastline, you can walk amongst velvet green cliffs towering into the sky and cascading waterfalls plummeting into deep, narrow valleys. The only land access to this enchanted place is via the Kalalau Trail, an 11-mile trail that crosses five different valleys and ends at secluded Kalalau Beach. A must for any “Lost” fans.
Pearl Harbour, Oahu
“Yesterday, December 7, 1941 — a date which will live in infamy — the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” — Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Pearl Harbor, named for the pearl oysters once harvested there, is the largest natural harbor in Hawaii and the only naval base in the United States to be designated a National Historical Landmark. The devastating aerial attack on Pearl Harbor resulted in 2,390 dead and hundreds wounded, and drove the United States into World War II. Visit the various historic sites including the USS Arizona Memorial.
Kalaupapa National Historic Park, Molokai - Mule Road
It's quiet as you ride on your mule along the 2.9-mile trail to Kalaupapa. Perhaps it's because you're riding nearby the highest sea cliffs in the world (recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records) as an endless, blue seascape paints the horizon. Riding along Kalaupapa peninsula is enough to make anyone speechless
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
There are currently three active volcanoes in Hawaii and this 377 square mile park on Hawaii's Big Island is a living museum where visitors can witness the power of Hawaii's volcanoes in surprisingly intimate ways. You'll feel great mana, or spiritual power, here as you hike along rocky trails and desolate deserts that in time will flourish and thrive with new life.
